We may all live in a great big global community, but in my Blog, it's my world.
MSNBC did a survey and let their readers choose the ugliest/worst car ever. Too bad I don't much care for their surveys. (Though you can see the results of their poll in their original article: here)

That being the case (me hating on their survey), I'd rather have an unscientific poll here, via JoeUser.com, where people can defend their choice, or slam other folks choice at their own will.

The question is, what would be your own choice for worst and/or ugliest 'American' car ever. If you really want to expand beyond just domestic vehicles, then go for it. Just be able to tell us all why your choice should win the title of ugliest or worst car ever.

It's all up to you folks, though I'll reply with my own choice momentarily. Have to think on it for another minute or two, just to make certain my choice wouldn't change.

Oh, one more thing... if possible, try to include an image of the car/truck you are nominating so others might see the monstrosity and be able to judge more easily for themselves.

Shoot, I almost feel like I'm cheating here, since someone already photoshopped or doctored the image that I'm linking to, and already included the title for me. I could just print it out, make a plaque and declare a winner, but for this "contest" there is no real winner, just losers. Lots of them. Bad cars. Ugly cars. Cars that were pieces o' crap and never should have been on the roads. Those kinds of cars. Cars like the one I'm about to include a link to.

Top this. Please. I beg of you, find something worse. Find something uglier. Show us all the meaning of "bad" or "ugly" when it comes to cars and see if we can top it.

Meanwhile, here's my nominee:

Almost no defense necessary. I've hated those ugly beasts since being a very young driver and backing up into one in a parking lot. I backed into it, broke the headlight, the grill, and slightly bent the hood. My first "accident" in a car, and one that taught me many lessons. I've hated those ugly beasts ever since, and curse them mightily when I see one of them on the road. Oh, you don't think they still exist? Au contraire. There's still a few of them out there. Some foolish individuals still have them, and still drive them around. How they keep the clunkers going, I'll never know, but I hope they don't for long.

Seeing one of them stuck on the side of the road broke down is like a good Starbucks coffee to me, it just makes my day

I have to admit, the Pacer is hard to top... I mean, bottom?

Worst ever? My girlfriend in high school owned a yellow Gremlin. Making out in the trunk space of a Gremlin? Bad idea.

Personally owned? A 1976 yellow Ford Pinto. I remember as a kid: road trip through South Dakota in the height of summer with no A/C. Yikes.

Worst line of automobiles overall? AMC. Pacer, Gremlin, Javelin. Say no more.

Pinto!  The stupid Pinto!

That just reminds me of a scene in the silly spy movie spoof "Top Secret!" with Val Kilmer. I'll let folks look that one up on their own, but it was pretty funny.

The ugliest American car of all time (at least to me) is the Pontiac Aztek... GAG!!!

Of course, this is coming from a guy who loves old AMC Gremlins, so take that for what it's worth. ;~D

Chevy Citation. I owned one of these for a while. Ugly, ugly, ugly. But very dependable.

I think the PT Cruiser has my vote. It's like...a cheap imitation of the "real thing"...whatever the real thing is, anyway. lol I also don't like those retro Chevy trucks out right now. Don't know what they're called--but they're a cheap imitation of the real thing as well.

Mustang II. Everything sucked but the front suspension.

Hmmm, there's two of the Chevy trucks, so I'm not sure which one you may be thinking of.

Perhaps the SSR? Link

Or

Maybe the HHR? Link

I'm not a big fan of the SSR. It looks ok, but two seaters seem so useless. And as a truck, I just don't see it.

The HHR seems ok, but the last GM product I personally had was an early 80's Pontiac Grand Prix that was a p.o.s.... The wife has owned several Chevy's inbetween because they've been hand-me-downs from my father-in-law. He has a GM credit card and keeps going back so he gets the discount from the GM dealer.

My loyalty had been towards the more recent Chrysler products, that is until I traded my last Neon in for a used Ford Explorer. I wanted a 2000 - 2005 series Intreprid, but the used one that was on the dealer's lot was more expensive and in much worse shape from it's prior owners lack of care, at least compared to the Explorer, so back to Ford I am.

I did own a '85 Ford Mustang LX. Not the model with the spoiler. It was not a pretty car. I can't say it's the worst that I've had. That would be reserved for a Ford Tempo (I think) that was a p.o.s. also.

Hmmm, another more recent ugly car contender would be the Chrysler 300. I don't care for the looks on it at all.

Nope, not the Fox body, which was '79-94 I think. That one was ugly as sin, and went like hell. I'm talking about the 74-78 model, Mustang II. The one that ironically is the only Mustang to win Car of the Year from Car and Driver.

terp...I don't really like the looks of either Chevy truck, but I was talking about the first one. The Chrysler is fugly, too. It looks like it hit a brick wall and has a flat front.

Funny, though...the Ford 500 looks somewhat similar to the Chrysler, but I think the 500 is nicer looking for some reason.

I hate these.

I've personally owned a 80 something Ford (I think it was a Tempo) that was a POS, a 89(?) Oldsmobile Calais, a 94 Oldsmobile Cierra, a 97 Buick LeSabre, a 98 Oldsmobile Silhoutte, and we now have a 05 Chevy Malibu. Here's our caravan of shame:

PS - We HATE white cars.

Ah TW, my wife is right there with you on the Scion boxy thing. She hates those and the (to her) silly looking Honda Elements.

And again have to love that someone did the work on the photo for me already.

on Nov 27, 2005
Oy, I almost bought a scion XB. They might not be the best looking cars, but they drive alright and they're fairly cheap.

My vote for ugliest car? Has to be those ugly ass chevy doohickies that you have photos of already. Ick. Double Ick. Gag. Yeah, they're that bad.
on Nov 24, 2007
Not that this car is the ugliest of all time, but I remember
when the 7th generation Buick Skylark was released in
1992 I remember thinking "Why, oh Why in God's name
did they design a car to look like THAT?" The advertisements
with the artist with a mustache who looked like an out of
work porno actor. Very classy. And then afterwards it
seemed the only people I saw driving the car were obese,
chain smoking women. Ugh.
