Seeing some headlines that are talking about the connundrum that the Obama administration finds itself in over the situation in Libya. The same sort of situation that many liberals expected him to get us out of in Iraq and Afghanistan, which leads me to ask the liberals out there where is their righteous indignation and their hate and outrage -- the same outrage, the same indignation and same righteous demands that they were making upon the former Commander-in-Chief who immediately preceeded Mr. Obama's term in office?!?
Oh, that's right, when it's a liberal calling the shots it's not WAR, it's -- borrowing a term thrown around over at Drudge (yeah, every now and then I check that site, but no, going back to old articles and claims by some that I did nothing but parrot that site) -- Kinetic Military Action. What. evah! You can split hairs and argue the meaning of words like "is" if you want, but if it walks like a duck and all that, well, that's the argument that was made when the man represented by the elephant was in office and should it not apply to the man who is represented by the donkey as well?
All I am trying to say is that it seems that some people were awfully quick to assume the worst when the country was being run by GWB. Now that it is being run by BHO, we can just turn the blind eye to it all and pretend all of what was bothering us (or was supposed to bother us) before is not an issue at all. Heck, we can even give the new guy a Nobel Peace Prize before he's really stepped into office, right? (And as much as it pains me to admit this, I have to say I gotta give a little credit to the fat&greedy small-minded documentarian/filmmaker that is calling upon Obama to give back that award.)
Some people yelled, screamed, shouted, and wrote what seemed like an endless stream of articles calling Bush every bad thing they could think of and at the time I may (most likely did) note that eventually an opportunity would come where the other side would possibly be able to say many of the same things about their preferred leader. That time has come. I'm trying hard to resist the urges to say I told you so (and I suppose this article is a big FAIL in that area) and turn the weaponry of the words back on those people as I really think the higher road is just to remember that the guy in the White House -- no matter what party affiliation -- is trying to do the best job they can for the country as a whole, given the situations they are facing on a daily basis.
We could be screaming NO BLOOD FOR OIL right now about Libya and yet we aren't. We could be screaming about the fact that Gitmo is still business as usual (and some still are doing that). We could be doing a lot of whining about changes coming to the military (for example the articles yesterday talking about the training that is being developed to deal with having openly gay individuals serve) and yet again for the most part we aren't -- what we is that?! Oh just the moderate and conservative types. That we.
Ahhh, the joys of writing an article on politics. Every now and then that fun comes back.
